Duglas T. Stewart

Duglas T. Stewart, born on December 30, 1964, is a prominent figure in the indie pop scene as the driving force and chief songwriter of the Glasgow-based band BMX Bandits, which he co-founded in 1985. Known for his unique blend of whimsical and bittersweet melodies, Stewart's songwriting draws inspiration from a diverse array of artists, including Brian Wilson, Serge Gainsbourg, and the classic tunes of The Sherman Brothers.

In addition to his own musical endeavors, Stewart has collaborated with various artists, co-writing songs for The Pearlfishers and producing tracks for talents such as Alex Chilton, Chip Taylor, and Stevie Jackson. His efforts in the music industry extend to organizing tribute concerts celebrating icons like Brian Wilson and Ennio Morricone, and he contributed to the tribute album "Caroline Now!" dedicated to Wilson.

Stewart ventured into a solo career with the release of "Duglas Stewart's Frankenstein" in 1996, which featured contributions from fellow BMX Bandits members. In 2016, he co-wrote and starred in the independent film "Wigilia," which included his original composition "Agata's Song." His influence continues to resonate, evidenced by his appearance in the 2017 documentary "Teenage Superstars."

Currently, Stewart lives in Glasgow with his partner and fellow band member, Chloe Philip, continuing to impact the indie music landscape.
