**Biography of William "Bill" McMurry**
William “Bill” McMurry is a distinguished law enforcement and intelligence expert currently serving as the CEO of W1 Global. His impressive career spans over two decades, primarily dedicated to the FBI, where he retired as a Supervisory Special Agent after a remarkable twenty-four-year tenure in the New York Office.
In 2015, Mr. McMurry was appointed as the inaugural Supervisory Special Agent for the newly established International Corruption Squad within the New York Division of the FBI. This team was tasked with investigating breaches of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and complex money laundering cases involving corrupt foreign officials. Under his guidance, the squad became a preeminent force in tackling issues related to foreign corruption, corporate malfeasance, and intricate financial crimes.
By 2019, he ascended to the position of Unit Chief for the International Corruption Unit (ICU) at FBI Headquarters, where he oversaw the agency’s Foreign Corruption and Anti-Trust programs. In this role, he managed hundreds of investigations and led a team of approximately sixty Special Agents, Analysts, and Forensic Accountants.
Among his notable achievements, Mr. McMurry played a pivotal role in two of the largest foreign corruption cases in history, including the investigation into the $4.7 billion embezzlement scandal linked to the Malaysian government fund 1MDB. This ongoing investigation has resulted in significant asset seizures and international cooperation, leading to the conviction of Malaysia's former Prime Minister and various high-ranking officials involved in the scheme. His efforts in this case have been recognized as groundbreaking, particularly in fostering collaborative relations with global authorities.
