Dwight Howard
Dwight David Howard II, born on December 8, 1985, is a retired American basketball player renowned for his exceptional athletic abilities, earning him the nickname "Superman." Over his illustrious NBA career, Howard garnered significant accolades, including being an NBA champion, an eight-time All-Star, and an eight-time All-NBA Team selection. His defensive skills earned him recognition as a five-time member of the All-Defensive Team and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year.
Howard's journey began at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, where he excelled in high school basketball. Opting to enter the professional realm directly, he declared for the 2004 NBA Draft, where he was selected first overall by the Orlando Magic. During his tenure with the Magic, he set multiple franchise and league records, leading the team to the NBA Finals in 2009.
In 2012, after eight successful seasons in Orlando, Howard joined the Los Angeles Lakers, where he had three separate one-year stints and ultimately secured an NBA championship in 2020. His career also included playing for the Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, and Philadelphia 76ers. In recognition of his remarkable contributions to basketball, Howard was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame twice in 2025, both as an individual player and as a member of the Redeem Team from the 2008 Olympics.
