Shelley Long

Shelley Long, born on August 23, 1949, is a celebrated American actress, singer, and comedian. She is perhaps best known for her iconic portrayal of Diane Chambers on the acclaimed sitcom *Cheers*, a role that earned her five Emmy nominations, culminating in a win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1983. Additionally, she received two Golden Globe Awards for her work on the show and was later nominated for an Emmy for her guest appearances on the spin-off, *Frasier*.

Long's film career includes notable performances in a variety of comedies such as *Night Shift* (1982), *Irreconcilable Differences* (1984), *The Money Pit* (1986), and *Troop Beverly Hills* (1989). In 1984, her role in *Irreconcilable Differences* garnered her a nomination for a Best Leading Actress Golden Globe.
