Norman Chappell
Norman Chappell (31 December 1925 – 21 July 1983) was a distinguished English character actor celebrated for his extensive work in television and film. Born in Lucknow, India during the British Raj, Chappell developed a talent for embodying quirky and humorous characters, often leaning towards light-hearted comedy.
Throughout his career, he became particularly recognized for his contributions to the iconic Carry On film series, where his comedic timing and portrayal of eccentric characters left a lasting impression. Chappell also made notable appearances in the classic British television series The Avengers, featuring in five memorable episodes, including "Dead of Winter," "The Gilded Cage," "Dial A Deadly Number," "Dance with Death," and "Fog." His character in "The Gilded Cage" exemplified his knack for depicting slightly pompous personas.
In addition to his work in film and television, Chappell showcased his comedic flair through various sketches on the popular game show 3-2-1, which was hosted by Ted Rogers.
