Jeremy "Jaz" Coleman is a celebrated English musician and vocalist, best known as the dynamic frontman and keyboardist of the influential post-punk band Killing Joke, which rose to fame in the early 1980s. With a distinctive raspy baritone voice and an electrifying stage presence—often accentuated by striking face makeup—Coleman has made a lasting impact on the music scene. His performance style has been likened to that of Motörhead's Lemmy, with music critic Bill Janovitz noting his commanding vocal delivery and intense energy.
During their early years, Coleman contributed not only as a vocalist but also as a synthesizer player, weaving unsettling electronic sounds into Killing Joke’s music, which helped establish the group’s unique sound. He continues to incorporate keyboards and synths in their studio projects. Notably, metal icon James Hetfield has praised Coleman as one of his favorite singers, highlighting his influence across genres.
In recognition of their innovative contributions, Killing Joke was honored with the "Innovator Award" at the 2010 Classic Rock Roll of Honour, presented by legendary guitarist Jimmy Page, a long-time admirer of the band.
