Jamie Vardy

Jamie Vardy, born Jamie Richard Vardy on 11 January 1987, is an English professional footballer who serves as both striker and captain for Leicester City in the Premier League. Widely celebrated as one of the finest forwards of his era, his game is defined by explosive speed, sharp positional sense, and ruthless finishing in front of goal.

Vardy’s path to the top is legendary. He began his career in non-league football with Stocksbridge Park Steels before moving to FC Halifax Town and then Fleetwood Town. In 2012, Leicester City signed him for a then-non-league record fee of £1 million. His breakthrough came in the 2015–16 season when he scored 24 league goals, powering Leicester to a miraculous Premier League title—one of the greatest underdog stories in sport. That same season, he set a Premier League record by scoring in 11 consecutive matches.

Vardy has also won the FA Cup with Leicester in 2021, the FA Community Shield, and the Premier League Golden Boot in 2019–20. Internationally, he earned 26 caps for England and represented his country at UEFA Euro 2016.
