Paul Ruubel

**Paul Ruubel (January 8, 1913 – February 19, 1970)** was an esteemed Estonian stage and film actor, celebrated for his powerful presence and emotional depth in both dramatic and comedic roles.

Born in the small village of Palupera, Ruubel’s artistic journey began in the 1930s, leading him to the stages of Vanemuine and later the Endla Theatre in Pärnu, where he became a beloved fixture. His career spanned over three decades, during which he left an indelible mark on Estonian theatre.

Ruubel’s notable works include standout performances in productions such as *“Mäeküla piimamees”* and *“Põhjaneitsi,”* where his nuanced portrayals earned critical acclaim. He also appeared in several Estonian films, including the classic *“Veealused karid”* (1958) and *“Jäljed”* (1963), showcasing his versatility on screen.
