Before joining Uriah Heep, Kerslake was a member of the band Gods, with whom he recorded three albums, showcasing his early talent in the music scene. His versatility as a musician allowed him to collaborate with prominent artists, including contributing to the solo projects of David Byron and Ken Hensley while still performing with Uriah Heep.
In 1976, Kerslake recorded one final album with Gods before returning to Uriah Heep, where he helped shape the band's sound during their peak years.
