Jared T. Raynor Gilman, born on December 28, 1998, is an American actor renowned for his portrayal of Sam Shakusky in the 2012 Wes Anderson film Moonrise Kingdom. His performance in this coming-of-age story earned him a nomination for the 2013 Young Artist Award in the category of Best Leading Young Actor in a Feature Film.
At just 12 years old, Gilman secured his first professional acting gig in Moonrise Kingdom. To prepare for the role, he immersed himself in various activities, such as canoeing and cooking over an open flame, as well as studying Clint Eastwood's character from Escape from Alcatraz.
