Canon Nawata, a talented Japanese actress, was born on September 28, 1988, in Osaka, Japan. At the age of 18, she relocated to Tokyo to pursue her passion for acting. Initially focusing on stage performances, she gained prominence in 2014 when she took on the leading role in "The Adventures of Kobo Abe," a production directed by the renowned Genjiro Arato.
Nawata made her film debut in 2016 with Wayne Wang's "While The Women Are Sleeping," showcasing her versatility as an actress. Her career continued to flourish, and in 2019, she delivered a powerful performance in Hisashi Saito's "Love Dart," portraying a complex character dealing with emotional turmoil. That same year, she marked her Hollywood entrance in Sion Sono's action film "Prisoners of the Ghostland," further solidifying her international presence.
In 2021, she caught the attention of acclaimed director Mike Figgis, who cast her in "Mother Tongue," filmed in Hong Kong, which added another noteworthy credit to her filmography.
