Robert O'Reilly
Robert O'Reilly, born on March 25, 1950, in New York City, is an accomplished American actor and director renowned for his work in film, television, and theater. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Chancellor Gowron, the formidable leader of the Klingon Empire, in the iconic Star Trek series, particularly in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
O'Reilly's extensive career includes over 100 film and television appearances, where he frequently took on the roles of antagonists. His credits feature notable shows such as Cheers, Knight Rider, MacGyver, and NYPD Blue, as well as appearances in films like The Mask. He has also made significant contributions to the stage, performing on Broadway and at Carnegie Hall, and earned a Drama-Logue Award in 1981 for his directorial work on the play Getting Out.
His entrance into the Star Trek universe began with a guest appearance in the episode "Manhunt," but it was his performance as Gowron, starting from "Reunion," that solidified his legacy.
