After being dismissed from his band and struggling financially, musician Dewey Finn cleverly secures a position as a fifth-grade substitute teacher at an elite private school. Unbeknownst to the school's strict principal, he introduces his students to the exhilarating world of rock music. Meanwhile, his roommate remains oblivious to Dewey's unconventional teaching methods and the chaos that ensues as the class transforms into a rock band.
