Jeremiah enjoys a nurturing life with his caring foster parents until his erratic mother, Sarah, reappears to reclaim him. Thrust into her chaotic existence filled with drugs, sleazy motels, and unstable relationships, he struggles to navigate this perilous new reality. Although his devout grandparents offer a chance at redemption, Sarah's return pulls him back into her tumultuous embrace. Their bond, rooted in a complex love, drives them along a tumultuous journey. However, Sarah's self-destructive behavior ultimately takes a toll, leading to devastating consequences for both mother and son.
