In the late 1800s, on the fringes of the Russian Empire, a doctor succumbs to his obsessive desires, administering a fatal ether overdose to a young woman he covets. After evading justice, he secures a position at a fortress, where he delves deeper into his sinister experiments, using ether to control pain and influence behavior. However, his path of darkness still holds the possibility of redemption, challenging the notion of whether he can escape the clutches of eternal damnation.
