Walter Campbell, a fading TV star, faces an unexpected twist when his younger girlfriend Lucy reveals she's pregnant just as he plans to end their relationship. Seeking distance, he sets off to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Nic, in Big Sur, who harbors resentment over his past neglect. Along the way, he drives Nic's friend Kim, who is grappling with her own grief after her mother’s funeral. Upon arrival, Walter learns Nic is living in a lesbian commune and preparing for marriage. Their budding relationship faces challenges, threatening the fragile bond they’ve begun to rebuild.
