Sandy riverbeds wind their way through these arid terrains, often devoid of water for years, only filling when significant rainfall occurs in the mountains, sending water cascading toward the coast. Despite their frequent dryness, these river channels play a vital role in sustaining numerous forms of life in this harsh environment.
