In the aftermath of the war, a young graduate and his girlfriend embark on their journey of marriage, despite her affluent parents' initial reservations. They relent when he secures a modest job earning £5.10.0 and a cramped flat costing 30/- a week. As newlyweds, they grapple with financial strain, a tiny living space, challenging neighbors, and the ever-watchful presence of her parents. Amidst these trials, they question whether their love can withstand the pressures of life and ponder unconventional ways to deal with their domestic challenges, such as disposing of tea leaves.
