Andy Hardy arrives at Wainwright College, following in his father's footsteps, and quickly becomes smitten with a charming blonde he encounters on the train, who sends him mixed signals. Along the way, he meets Kay and Dr. Standish, both also headed to Wainwright. Andy is drawn to Kay, but Dr. Standish appears interested as well. As he navigates his budding relationship with Kay, the blonde's erratic behavior leaves him confused. When he discovers the blonde is actually a pair of identical twins, his attempts to assist them lead to a late-night escapade at their boarding house.
