Complicating matters, the Cardinal's own brother finds himself arrested for this crime. Tension mounts as de Medici navigates the moral and legal ramifications of loyalty and secrecy. This compelling narrative, rooted in Louis N. Parker's play, would later inspire Alfred Hitchcock’s 1953 film, I Confess.
