Wealthy executive Drew Latham (Ben Affleck) feels the loneliness of the holidays as Christmas nears, prompting him to revisit his childhood home. Discovering a new family, Tom Valco (James Gandolfini) and Christine (Catherine O'Hara), residing there, he proposes a lucrative deal for them to act as his parents during the festive season. As Drew imposes his quirky demands, tensions rise, especially with the arrival of their daughter, Alicia (Christina Applegate).
