Two childhood friends, Ray and Owen, find themselves at a crossroads in their lives. Ray, a drummer in a struggling rock band, and Owen, an aspiring filmmaker, drift through menial jobs and excessive drinking. When Owen's fiancée, Lynn, calls off their engagement, he spirals into despair. Seeking distraction, he invites Ray to a small film festival in Kansas, where Owen tries to mend his relationship while Ray pulls a hilarious con, posing as the son of actor Wallace Shawn to secure a luxury hotel suite. Ultimately, Owen resolves to make significant changes in his life and relationships.
