Janet Flanders, a naive young woman from a small town, dreams of a fairy-tale romance and believes her prince charming will arrive. When she meets the dashing Brett Becker, she thinks she has found true love, unaware that he is already engaged to a wealthy socialite. Fueled by her infatuation, Janet relocates to Chicago to be near him, bombards him with calls and love letters, and even shares her plans for their future with her family, including an engagement ring. Her relentless obsession spirals into a dark path, ultimately leading to a shocking act of violence.
