Joan Gordon, a nightclub singer, flees her gangster boyfriend and embarks on a new life as a mail-order bride for a struggling farmer in North Dakota. Initially, the couple faces numerous challenges as they navigate their unfamiliar relationship. Just as Joan begins to fall for her husband, her past resurfaces when her former lover reappears, determined to reclaim her heart. The tension escalates as Joan must confront her feelings and the dangers of her previous life.
