In "Lions for Lambs," three interconnected narratives unfold over the course of ninety minutes. A Republican senator, eyeing the presidency, engages in a challenging hour-long interview with a critical journalist, outlining his plans for success in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, two special forces soldiers find themselves trapped on a ridge in Afghanistan, desperately awaiting rescue as Taliban forces encircle them. Simultaneously, a political science professor at a California university encourages a disillusioned student to reconnect with their passion for activism. Each storyline explores themes of ambition, sacrifice, and the impact of choices.
