Upon the discovery of an elderly millionaire's lifeless body, toxicology reports reveal cocaine in his bloodstream. His will astonishingly bequeaths $8 million to Rebecca Carlson, his mistress. District Attorney Robert Garrett opts to charge Rebecca, contending that she intentionally stirred passions in the aging man, resulting in his untimely demise. In the courtroom, defense attorney Frank Dulaney takes on Rebecca's case, but as he fights for her innocence, he finds himself entangled in a perilous affair with her.
