Ulrich Mott, a charismatic yet unpredictable social climber, aspires to influence U.S. foreign policy. With the support of his older, influential wife, journalist Elsa Brecht, he skillfully ingratiates himself into elite circles, becoming a figure no one can overlook. However, Elsa's daughter Amanda is suspicious of Mott’s motives, questioning the legitimacy of their union and whether his charming demeanor hides darker intentions. As tensions rise, Amanda's skepticism forces the family to confront the complexities of their relationships and the truth behind Ulrich's ambitions.
