In "Mad City," a disgruntled museum security guard finds himself in a desperate situation after being fired from his job. In a misguided attempt to reclaim his position, he takes hostages at the museum while wielding a firearm. His actions inadvertently thrust him into the chaotic realm of sensationalist television, as news crews and producers descend upon the scene. The standoff quickly escalates, revealing the dark side of media exploitation and the lengths to which individuals will go for fame and attention, ultimately blurring the line between reality and entertainment.
