Maggie, a stressed single mother and college writing instructor from New York, seeks to mend her strained relationship with her rebellious daughter, Summer. They travel to a quaint Tuscan village from Maggie's youth, where she unexpectedly reunites with Luca, her charming ex who remains a bachelor, living with his elderly mother, Carmen. As Summer longs for her “bad boy” boyfriend back home, she and Carmen impulsively take Luca's car for a wild trip to Rome. Maggie and Luca follow, leading to comedic misadventures that pave the way for newfound connections and insights among the four of them.
