Tragically, her struggle culminated in suicide less than two years later, sparking outrage and highlighting the devastating impact of rape culture and mental health issues. In response, her parents and supporters, including the activist group Anonymous, rallied to hold accountable those who failed her, compelling the Nova Scotia government and RCMP to confront the case and seek justice for Rehtaeh.
