Gar, a high school journalist, immerses himself in the excitement of covering his school's basketball team as they pursue a state championship. His close friendship with star player Matt Dunbar deepens, but when Matt's older brother entices him into a risky theft from a drug dealer's house, Gar reluctantly joins. The situation spirals out of control, leading to dire consequences.
