Married author Tony Barrett (Cooper) retreats to his Connecticut home to focus on his latest novel, but his attention shifts to Manya (Sten), the discontented daughter of a neighboring farmer. Despite her engagement to Frederik (Bellamy), Manya finds herself snowed in with Tony for an intimate night. The following day, her father insists on proceeding with the wedding, ignoring her doubts. As tensions mount, the wedding reception spirals into chaos fueled by jealousy and intoxication, ultimately leading to a heartbreaking tragedy.
