Marcia, a street vendor in Kingston's tough ghetto, struggles to make ends meet while protecting her young daughter from the advances of her wealthy benefactor. Meanwhile, her brother faces danger from a local thug, pushing the family to the brink. When the patron threatens to withdraw his support, Marcia reaches a breaking point. Seeking an escape from her harsh reality, she transforms herself in dazzling attire and immerses in the vibrant dance hall scene that lies just outside her usual selling spot, discovering a world where she can momentarily forget her troubles and embrace the rhythm of life.
