Eleven-year-old Solomon Henry, a young black boy, decides to leave his family behind, frustrated with the way he’s been treated. He finds refuge with the Ingalls family, who teach him valuable lessons along the way. Laura, in particular, realizes the significance of appreciating what she has. The Ingalls help Solomon embrace his identity and take pride in his heritage. Ultimately, he returns to his family, enriched by his experiences with the Ingalls.
