Mary struggles with jealousy towards a new basketball teammate who is stealing her spotlight. Lucy's grades are slipping due to her association with the wrong crowd, while Ruthie idolizes Simon as he pursues his dream of becoming a magician. Unbeknownst to Eric, who is focused on writing a sermon for an upcoming televised event, Annie is left to juggle all the household and church responsibilities alone while the rest of the family is preoccupied.
