To help, Charlie suggests the mayor spend some private time with Claire at a friend's place, unaware that the mayor would end up at his own home instead. Meanwhile, Paul brings in a publicist to enhance his public image. After attending a baby shower, Caitlin becomes fixated on the idea of starting a family. Carter allows her to care for Rags for a day, but the dog accidentally swallows Charlie's pager. Ultimately, Caitlin decides against having children, but it seems Carter has other plans.
