We meet Mark Avery, the commission's head, who explains the group's guidelines and preferences. As Jock prepares a presentation for the HDC regarding proposed exterior modifications like dormers and decorative shingles, he takes us on a photo tour of the island. In the basement, Richard Trethewey discovers little plumbing or heating equipment worth salvaging and explores Nantucket's energy landscape, which includes everything from wind power to fuel oil, highlighting the high costs associated with each option as the Bentleys consider their choices.
