Landscape architect Stephanie Hubbard discusses her approach to designing a striking yet uncomplicated urban environment in East Boston. Abatement specialist Brian Fitzsimons and his team tackle the removal of asbestos-containing flooring and mastic from the kitchen on the first floor. Meanwhile, general contractor Tom Silva and master carpenter Norm Abram meticulously detach the original mouldings on the second floor for potential reuse. Host Kevin O'Connor joins them in demolishing a partition wall that divides two bedrooms, clearing the way for the new kitchen. Outside, city workers dig into the sewer main and lateral to find both severely obstructed by tree roots, requiring urgent repairs.
