H.R. Pufnstuf, created by Sid and Marty Krofft, marked a pioneering effort in children's television with its live-action, life-size puppetry. The whimsical series aired 17 episodes from September to December 1969, achieving notable popularity that led NBC to retain it in Saturday morning slots until August 1972. Filmed at Paramount Studios, its iconic opening scene was shot at Big Bear Lake, California. Reruns continued on ABC from 1972 to 1974, and the show was syndicated from 1974 to 1978. It garnered cult status, ranking #22 and #27 on TV Guide’s Top Cult Shows in 2004 and 2007, respectively.
