Kathy Haley is overjoyed when her dashing, older husband David showers her with affection, making her feel cherished. However, this bliss quickly turns sour as he begins to unleash a torrent of cruel insults and, ultimately, physical violence. Realizing she can no longer endure this toxic relationship, Kathy manages to break free from her oppressive marriage. Yet, David is determined to keep her from leaving him for good.
