After discovering that his new girlfriend recently ended her fling with Miles Taylor, the pianist in his jazz band, Joey seeks to shield her from Miles' jealousy. He persuades his brother Roc to pretend to be her current boyfriend. However, Miles confronts Roc, doubting Joey's story. When Roc admits the reality, Miles, furious with Joey, decides to leave the band, taking Curtis, the bassist, along with him.
