Ben has to transport three 30-foot beams, but the Cambeau Freight Company refuses the job. He considers hiring a new independent freight hauler, but when he encounters Gunny, he finds himself ordering him off the Ponderosa. Their history goes back to their time serving together in the Mexican War, where they fought on opposing sides. Despite their past conflicts, Ben decides to put aside their differences and assists Gunny in securing the government contract from Cambeau Freight Company.
