When attorney Jud Lester returns to town, he stumbles upon a wounded robber seeking refuge in his office, just moments after a heist. The man loses consciousness, leading the townsfolk to believe Jud is a hero who thwarted the crime. Rather than clarifying the truth, Jud embraces this newfound reputation and collaborates with the community to apprehend the remaining members of the gang ahead of the captured robber's impending execution. However, as plans unfold, Jud may find that his deception could lead to unexpected consequences.
