Russell hires an attorney for her mother. Meanwhile, Simone and Sipowicz look into the shooting of a notorious mobster's son. Their investigation points to the victim's younger brother, but their inquiries are obstructed by the father. Medavoy and Russell respond to a call about a woman who has been shot while in bed. Her son reveals to Russell that he received a message from his step-father admitting to the crime. However, complications arise when the wealthy step-father's lawyer creates obstacles for the investigation.
