Jonas and Molly host a long-awaited ceremony honoring George Blane with the Silver Star for his bravery during the Korean War. Their celebration takes a dark turn when they learn that their nephew is abusing his wife. In an effort to change his nephew's ways, Jonas reflects on his father's struggles after returning from combat. At the same time, Mack is called to assist a jet in distress after its pilot succumbs mid-flight, causing it to veer into a no-fly zone. The pilot, a former Ranger grappling with alcoholism, prompts Mack to enlist Bob's help.
