An unfortunate incident leads to the oxygen carried by Red Blood Cell AC1677 turning into reactive oxygen, which causes a young Ordinary Cell to age prematurely. Although it was unintentional, AC1677 is filled with remorse for the aging of the cell. Soon after, an awards ceremony honors new Red Blood Cells, with AA2153 receiving the Rookie of the Year title. Despite having started their roles simultaneously, AC1677 feels inferior to AA2153. A senior Red Blood Cell notices his distress and empathetically tells him, “I understand what you’re going through,” offering to take him somewhere uplifting.
