Dana's new boyfriend, Daniel, persuades her to audition for a local play he's directing. As luck would have it, Cody is on set and Daniel encourages him to join the cast too. They end up as Romeo and Juliet, but Dana struggles with her performance because she can't find anything appealing about Cody. Eventually, Daniel dismisses Dana, declaring, "The show comes first." In response, Cody decides to quit, stating, "People matter more." This gesture of loyalty and generosity resonates with Dana, prompting her to finally recognize Cody's redeeming qualities.
