Just as Matt and Kitty are enjoying a much-deserved holiday, their plans are interrupted by the capture of a notorious criminal. They rush back to Dodge, but their stagecoach is sabotaged and crashes. Quick-thinking Kitty cleverly switches the identities of Matt and the captured criminal before the gang can reach them. Believing that Dillon is gravely injured and that Matt is actually Monk Wiley, the outlaws conspire to extort money from Dodge in exchange for Dillon’s life.
