A Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso is struck by severe nausea and diarrhea caused by Entamoeba histolytica, prompting a desperate need for medical assistance before his condition worsens. Meanwhile, a young woman faces a near-fatal situation from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, contracted while cleaning dust contaminated with mouse droppings. Additionally, an 18-month-old boy becomes infected with Baylisascaris procyonis worms, leading to brain swelling and neurological issues, including eye fluttering and a lack of responsiveness.
