Carmine and Squiggy are at Cowboy Bills, where Carmine vents his frustration about how no one appreciates his new song, "Do the Hotfoot." Spotting Bobby Bitts, the popular host of "American Dance Band" at a nearby table, Squiggy attempts to persuade him to feature Carmine's track, but Bobby is uninterested. Determined, Squiggy suggests that Carmine perform live to catch Bobby's attention. As Carmine starts singing, Bobby interrupts, declaring it "Superrific" and invites him to perform on his upcoming show. Renamed "Do the Carmine," Carmine dreams of rock stardom and asks Laverne to attend his performance. After a week of success, a concerned citizen hears the song and labels it rebellious and communist, pressuring Bobby to stop playing it.
